Orthodontic appointments involve repeated wire changes, ligature placement and adjustments. Having all the necessary instruments in one organised set reduces chair time and makes room set-up consistent. The Aurix Orthodontic Wire Control System is designed for this workflow.

What this guide covers.

What the system includes

The set brings together orthodontic pliers, ligature instruments, wire cutters, explorers and diagnostic tools. See the product page for the full list and specifications.

How the instruments work together

Wire control

Placement pliers guide archwires into bracket slots, while bending pliers make adjustments such as first-, second- and third-order bends.

Ligature flow

Ligature instruments place elastomeric or wire ligatures quickly and securely, and ligature cutters trim wire ligatures close to the bracket.

Cutting

Wire cutters, including distal end cutters, cut archwires safely and retain the cut piece.

Examination

Explorers and mirrors allow the clinician to check brackets, bands and oral hygiene at each visit.

A typical adjustment visit

  1. Examine brackets and bands with mirror and explorer.
  2. Remove ligatures and the existing archwire.
  3. Place the new archwire with placement pliers.
  4. Cinch or cut the distal ends.
  5. Place new ligatures and trim wire ligature ends.

Who it suits

  • Orthodontic practices standardising instruments across chairs.
  • General practices offering orthodontic treatment.
