Before placing an order, especially a large one, read the supplier’s shipping, returns and warranty policies. They tell you what happens if something goes wrong.

Shipping
- Processing time — how long before an order ships.
- Shipping methods and costs — standard, express and international options.
- Tracking — is tracking information provided?
- Duties and taxes — who pays for international shipments?
- Damage in transit — how to report it, and how quickly.
Returns
- Time limit for returns.
- Condition requirements — usually unused and in original packaging.
- Exclusions — custom, branded or used items are often non-returnable.
- Restocking fees.
- Who pays return shipping.
Warranty
- What defects are covered (for example, manufacturing defects).
- What is not covered (misuse, normal wear, improper reprocessing).
- How to make a claim.
Tips
- Inspect orders immediately on arrival.
- Photograph any damage before unpacking further.
- Keep packaging until you have checked everything.
- Contact the supplier promptly with your order number.

Custom and private-label orders
Because custom kits and branded instruments are made to order, return terms are usually different. Approve samples and specifications carefully before production.
